Marvin Leroy Pleinis

Marvin Leroy Pleinis, 76, a resident of Moses Lake passed away Monday, September 2, 2013 at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane surrounded by loving family. Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at the Angel Columbarium in Guarding Angels Cemetery, 2595 Road L NE, Moses Lake. Marvin was born July 27, 1937 to Hilda (Hauck) and Teofil Pleinis in Antioch, California. After graduation, he enlisted in the Navy and spent most of his time in Hawaii.

In 1960 he married his loving wife, Juanita McKenzie. They had two children, Myra Jean and Jason Alan. Marvin moved his family to Moses Lake in 1976 where he and his brother-in-law, John Bottem owned and operated 2 local grocery stores, Boyle's Plaza and J & M Family Grocery.

He went to work for Union Carbide and retired from ASMI. After retirement, he and his wife became snowbirds and spent their winters with family and good friends in Yuma, Arizona.

He enjoyed golfing and loved spending time with family and friends. Marvin and Juanita spent their summers in their Moses Lake home close to their kids, grandkids and great grandkids. He was stricken with Guillian-Barre Syndrome at the end of July and very quickly the disease consumed his quality of life.

He leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Juanita McKenzie Pleinis; one sister, Nancy Antrim, Sumner, WA; daughter, Myra Pleinis Buche and her children, Kimberly, Jacob and Aaron; son, Jason Alan Pleinis and his children, Nichole and Alyssa; seven beautiful great grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Marlene Pleinis Scheikel.
