Geneva Catherine Hermann
Geneva Catherine Hermann, 80, passed away on August 29, 2013 in Moses Lake, WA.
Geneva was born on August 13th, 1933 to Vincent and Stella O'Connell at Temple, ND. She lived and went to elementary school in Ray, ND until moving to Thermopolis, WY in 1947 where she graduated from Hot Springs County High School in 1951. She graduated from Business College in Denver, CO and worked for Colorado Fuel & Iron until 1954. She married Philip Hermann in 1954 at Thermopolis, WY. They lived in Albuquerque, NM and Rapid City, SD while Philip was in the US Air Force and in Milton-Freewater and Pendleton, OR before moving to Moses Lake in 1958.
Geneva worked for twenty-one years for the City of Moses Lake Parks and Recreation Department, retiring in 1997. She was an active member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and belonged to the Ladies Latars Society and the parish choir. In addition to various volunteer activities with Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Geneva also volunteered with Moses Lake First Way. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, reading, camping, and spending time with her family and friends.
Geneva was preceded in death by her parents Vincent and Stella, two sisters Mary O'Connell and Betty Maronick, her brother Vincent O'Connell, and two brothers-in-law Richard Helling and Dick Hermann.
Geneva is survived by her husband, Philip, Sr of Moses Lake; her children Mary (Riley) Yerxa, John (Inge) Hermann, Joseph (Viet) Hermann, Jeanne (Michael) Petrin, Philip Jr. (Tina) Hermann, David(Annemarie) Hermann, and Eileen (Brian) Snyder; her brother Delmer (Judy) O'Connell; brothers and sisters-in-law Phil Maronick, Carol O'Connell, Mary Helling, Rita Hermann, Jeanne (Robert) Kennedy, Pete (Shorty) Hermann, and Mike (Linda) Hermann; as well as seventeen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Rosary will be said at 6pm on Friday, September 6th at Kayser's Memorial Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30am on Saturday, September 7th at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Moses Lake with Father Mauricio Munoz officiating. Interment at Guarding Angels Cemetery will immediately follow the mass.
