MOSES LAKE - A Level 2 sex offender registered to live in Moses Lake, the Grant County Sheriff's Office announced Thursday.

Henry Jackson, Jr., 64, recently moved into the 1100 block of West Broadway Avenue.

Jackson was convicted in Grant County Superior Court of first degree rape in 1990, according to the sheriff's office.

He is described as black male, 6-feet-1 inches tall and 205 pounds with brown eyes and black hair, although likely has a shaved head.

As a Level 2 sex offender, Jackson provides a moderate risk to re-offend within the community.

It is against the law to threaten, intimidate or harass offenders, according to the sheriff's office.

State law authorizes law enforcement agencies to inform the public of a sex offender when, in the agency's discretion, it will enhance public safety and protection. Communities are notified when a Level 2 or 3 sex offender registers a new address.

The sheriff's office reminds residents Jackson has served the sentence and is not wanted by law enforcement at this time. He is only required to register.

Jackson is currently on probation with the state Department of Corrections.

The purpose behind community notification is to reduce the chance of any future victimization by better informing the public if offenders are in their area.
