Ralphie's restaurant to close doors Thursday
MOSES LAKE - After Thursday, Basin residents will no longer be able to enjoy a burger, slice of pizza or shake at Ralphie's.
The Moses Lake establishment is closing its doors this week, Anissa Combs said. Combs and her husband Ralph opened the restaurant in August 2012, according to a previous Columbia Basin Herald article.
Combs said they wanted to provide families with a fun, affordable place to eat.
"We thought Moses Lake needed a family-friendly, no-alcohol atmosphere, place to go out and eat for a reasonable price," she said. "But we didn't get the amount of customers we thought we would, we're not busy enough."
Combs also cited high overhead costs as another reason for closing the restaurant. She said deciding to close their doors was a hard decision to make.
"We're really sad. It would be great if we could do this as a hobby but unfortunately we can't," Combs said. "So this is the last chance for people to come in and eat."
She said some of the restaurant's regular customers have said they wish Ralphie's would remain open.
"We have people that will miss us, people that eat here three or four times a week," she said. "We do have regulars, but that's not enough."
As a farewell to customers, Combs said Ralphie's will be holding a party Thursday night. It's also Halloween Thursday and customers are encouraged to come in costume.
"It's a goodbye party and a Halloween party," she said. "There will be a live deejay, games, prizes, a costume contest and dancing."
The event starts at 6 p.m. and will go until about 9 p.m. or so, Combs said. There is a $5 cover charge, but that includes a slice of pizza and a soda.
The event is an all-ages event, and families are encouraged to come, she said.
Ralphie's is located at 323 S. Pioneer Way. They are open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
