Car wreck causes Moses Lake power outage

| October 29, 2013 6:00 AM

MOSES LAKE - Power was out for nearly three hours Saturday night for 948 Grant County PUD customers in Moses Lake.

It started when a power pole was damaged at Broadway Avenue and Marina Drive during a car wreck.

Power was knocked out at 4:52 p.m., according to Chuck Allen, a district spokesperson.

The outage affected customers on the west side of the Peninsula area of town and north of Interstate 90.

Power was restored at 7:36 p.m.

The wreck occurred when an elderly female driver experienced a medical issue and reportedly hit a power pole, according to a Moses Lake police incident report.

The woman was airlifted to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane because of her medical issues, not from injuries sustained in the collision.

The woman's name was not released Sunday.
