Zelma was born on September 24, 1925 in Arco, Idaho to Ivan and Sarah Lowry. She was the oldest daughter with a younger sister, Mary Jean.
She moved various places in her youth and settled in Meridian, Idaho where her father owned a small car mechanic shop out in the country. She graduated from Meridian High School in 1943. After graduation, she was employed as a secretary at Boise Payette Lumber and joined the USO where she enjoyed attending the social functions available with her girlfriends, but her heart always belonged to Bert and she longed for his return from his military service.
Upon his return, her wish came true and she and Bert were married August 12, 1946 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They made their first home in Meridian, ID. She followed Bert's dream after him hearing about land opportunities in the Moses Lake, WA area in 1953. In 1957, they moved their family to Warden, WA where the family home is still located. Zelma was a faithful and enduring dairy farmer's wife. She raised 7 children and supported Bert in all his ambitious endeavors. Zelma was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many capacities which included serving a mission in Nauvoo, IL with her husband, Bert. She served with a willing heart and was a great example of sacrifice.
Because of her generous nature, she entertained many friends and family members in their homes in Warden, Sitka, Alaska and Lava Hot Springs, Idaho.
Zelma loved her extended family and adored her many grandchildren. They all loved her deeply and will miss her caring, loving nature.
Zelma is survived by her 7 children: Clare and (Debbie) Roylance, Warden, WA; Gwen Gunter, N. Salt Lake, UT; Gwenda and (Ken) Maughan, Sandy, UT; Bonnie and (Phil) Owen, Farrwest, UT; Brent and (Nesha) Roylance, Moses Lake; Gary and (ValaRee) Roylance, Moses Lake; Bruce and (Shauna) Roylance, Moses Lake, WA; 36 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Mary Jean Langlois.
