Warden swept on road

CONNELL - Warden's two-match winning streak ended Tuesday when the team was swept by Connell.
The Cougars were blitzed by the undefeated Eagles and lost in three games (7-25, 15-25, 18-25).
"League leading Connell did not allow us to establish any kind of rhythm and the Eagles controlled the match from start to finish," head coach Dennis Treat said.
The loss drops Warden to 5-5 in the South Central Athletic Conference East division and 5-7 overall. However, the Cougars still hold a firm grasp over the fourth and final playoff spot in the division.
Treat was encouraged by his team's improvement throughout the match, but the high-powered Eagle attack proved to be too much for the Cougars.
"We did play tougher as the match progressed, but too many unforced errors and very poor serve receive hurt our chances for a comeback," he said. "Connell is an impressive, confident team and they made us pay for every mistake."
Middle hitter Selena Landeros led the team with two kills and added seven blocks. Libero Ashley Martinez and setter Emily Pruneda recorded 18 digs and nine digs, respectively.
The schedule doesn't get any easier as Warden hosts second place Columbia (Burbank) tonight at 7 p.m.
