Glenn James Perrins

Glenn James Perrins, 68, passed away October 18, 2013, after a four-year battle with cancer. He lived a life of faith, love and commitment and was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing.

Glenn was born November 15, 1944 to the late Melvin Samuel Perrins and Sadie Ressa Lounsbury in Spokane, WA. He was raised in Deer Park, WA where he was active in band, football, baseball, track and basketball. After graduating from Deer Park High School in 1963, he attended Ricks College on a track scholarship, graduating in 1965. While at Ricks College, he met his wife, Katherine Jensen. They were married May 31, 1968, in the Idaho Falls Temple for time and all eternity. He received a B.S. in accounting from Brigham Young University in 1969.

Glenn was active in his community and had a 39-year career as an accountant. He served in the National Guard from 1969-1976. Together, he and Kathy served on the BYU-Idaho President's Advancement Council and as Chapter Chairs in the BYU Alumni Association. He also served on the Advisory Board of the GRANCO Credit Union.

Glenn was a dedicated, diligent and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a young man, he served a Spanish-speaking mission to California and Arizona. He held many positions in the Church including a teacher, Scoutmaster, High Councilor, Stake Mission President, Bishop and most recently as a Counselor in the Stake Presidency.

Glenn loved his Savior, Jesus Christ. He lived his life trying everyday to follow His example. He loved meeting people and tried to serve them with love and kindness. He shared his love and testimony of the Savior with everyone he met.

He had many passions and interests in his life. When he decided to do something, he made a commitment to do it well. He loved music and sang in a Handel's Messiah production nearly every year, which once included a trip to sing at Carnegie Hall. He loved BYU sports. He would go to great lengths to catch a game, whether it meant going to a friend's house or even driving to the perfect spot on a country road to get the best radio reception. His favorite dessert was a bowl of ice cream and he loved to play golf with anyone who would go with him.

Glenn is survived by his eternal companion Katherine and their seven children: Jeremy (Birgitta) of Spanish Fork, UT; Danielle (Jeff) Peterson of Nibley, UT; Erik (Kristi) of Lawrence, KS; Seth (Jill) of Spanish Fork, UT; Heather (Kirk) Larson of Provo, UT; Kimberly (Curtis) Bates of Moses Lake, WA; and Clark Perrins of Moses Lake, WA; and their 18 grandchildren: Ethan, Amberly, Hailey, Zachery, Bryn, Chase, Alaina, Abigail, Celeste, Owen, Noah, Baylee, Isaac, Jack, Anna, Dillon, Maci, and Olivia; his brother Sam (Dianne) Perrins of Cheney, WA and sister Carole Jean (Wayne) Schultz of Clarkston, WA. He was preceded in death by his brother K L Perrins, and sister Mary Lou Attridge.

Funeral services, arranged by Carver Family Funeral Home, will be held Thursday, October 24 at 10 am in the Moses Lake LDS Stake Center, 1515 S. Division St. A viewing will be held at the Stake Center Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. A second viewing will be held immediately before the funeral, from 8:00 to 9:30 am. Glenn will be interred at the Guarding Angels Cemetery in Moses Lake, WA.
