MOSES LAKE — Drivers should use caution near Paxson Drive and Valley Road near Moses Lake for smoke drifting over the road the next few days.
A fire in a pile of wood shavings Wednesday at the Grant County Fairgrounds has caused smokey conditions that will likely continue to burn for the next few days, according to the sheriff's office.
Firefighters responded to the area Wednesday afternoon and created a fireline around the fire, which is completely contained and does not pose any threat to others.
Firefighters decided to allow the fire to burn itself out because of the difficulty to extinguish because the fire is burning deep in the pile, much like a hay bale fire, according to the sheriff's office.
