Ballot counters needed

| October 23, 2013 6:00 AM

EPHRATA - Grant County Republican Party Chair Kimber Lybbert reports that the Elections Office "could really use your help" opening ballots, separating them from envelopes, and checking and documenting signatures for three weeks.

"We've begun the elections process for this year, and I'd like to know if you're interested or know someone who might be," Lybbert wrote to party members.

Starting yesterday, the Elections Office will be opening ballots through Nov. 23. Most of this will happen when the mail comes in daily, so working hours are between 9 a.m. and noon.

"I would expect Mondays might be a bit heavier," Lybbert said. "The day of the election, we'll expect a 13-hour plus day."

After the Election - until Nov. 23 - hours will be more variable. The first week after is usually 9-5, then it dwindles back to mail deliveries until all the military ballots are in. Then there will be one last push to count those ballots.

If you would like to serve, you may contact Lybbert at 766-4295 or Dani Bolyard at 707-3367.
