Two die in head-on crash near Quincy
QUINCY - Two Quincy women died in a head-on crash Saturday evening on state Route 28 west, about three miles east of Quincy.
About 5:30 p.m. Saturday, a 17-year-old Ephrata male was heading west on the highway in a 1998 Dodge Ram when he reportedly drifted off the road to the right. He then overcorrected into the east lane of travel, hitting a 1990 Ford Aerostar van head-on. The van came to rest off the south side of the road, according to the State Patrol.
The driver of the van, Judy M. Richardson, 64, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger, Anna H. Hagerman, 79, was transported to Quincy Valley Medical Center where she died a short time later, according to the State Patrol. The two were reportedly wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The 17-year-old driver was injured and transported by ambulance to Quincy Valley Medical Center, according to the State Patrol.
The State Patrol is still investigating the cause of the collision. As of Sunday night, the State Patrol was not able to determine if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
