Daniel N. Catlin, Sr
Reverend Daniel N. Catlin, Sr. passed peacefully at his home in Ephrata, Washington on Saturday, October 5, at the age of 83.
Born on the Fourth of July, in Streetman, Texas during the great depression, Rev. Catlin was one of 5 children born to Emmett Catlin and Lura (Cate) Catlin. He served in the United States Air Force where he met his wife of 62 years while stationed in Roswell, New Mexico. At the end of his Air Force career, he attended Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas where he earned his BA in Business and Theology. He was ordained as a minister in the Southern Baptist church and continued his commitment to the ministry by serving congregations throughout the western United States along with being a professional bookkeeper and tax consultant until he retired.
Rev. Catlin is preceded in death by parents, his brother Godfrey Catlin (who died in battle during WWII) and his beloved daughter, Wendy Catlin.
He is survived by his wife Leigh, their son Dan Catlin and wife Sally of Ephrata, daughter Beva Miles and husband Rick of Spokane, and son Terry Catlin of Carlsbad, New Mexico. He was blessed with nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the Bethlehem Chapel in Ephrata for close friends and family on October 22 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the research for breast cancer, the disease that took Rev. Catlin's daughter.
