Chiefs' group: Fire District 13 deserves your support

| October 18, 2013 6:00 AM

The Grant County Fire Chiefs and Fire Commissioners are urging you to support Grant County Fire District 13's Emergency Medical Services levy on the November ballot.

In 2002, fire district commissioners added emergency medical services to the mission to meet the growing demand for EMS services.

Currently, taxpayers located within the boundaries of Grant County Fire District 13 pay taxes for fire protection.

Funding to support EMS operations comes directly from the general fund, which takes away funds to support fire protection.

Calls for Emergency Medical Services and the cost to maintain EMS operations are increasing, putting a strain on funds that were once use for the sole purpose of fire protection.

Supporting this EMS levy will provide funding for continued EMS response and enhance your fire districts ability to provide better patient care. The money created by this EMS levy will allow Fire District 13 to maintain EMS response and replace the existing EMS response vehicle, while ensuring funding for future capital needs.

Grant County Fire District 13 protects an unincorporated area that surrounds Ephrata. The district is governed by a three person board and served by a very dedicated, all volunteer group of men and women. Please vote yes on the Emergency Medical Services levy, and support the people who support you.
