QUINCY - Quincy police are looking for information to identify a suspect allegedly involved in a random assault at a Quincy restaurant Sept. 3.

According to Quincy Police Sgt. Paul Snyder, a Hispanic male entered The Lovely Grape on D Street Southeast about 7:30 p.m. The suspect reportedly then grabbed a female inside the restaurant and attempted to choke her. The woman was able to break free and began yelling at the suspect to leave before calling 911 and contacting a family member at a nearby business. The woman was not injured during the alleged assault.

Snyder said the suspect fled the scene in a burgundy Ford Explorer or Expedition, both SUVs, but witnesses were unable to relay the license plate number of the vehicle.

The female victim told police she did not know who the man was, according to Snyder.

The man is described as being about 5 feet 7 inches tall, about 200 pounds, wearing a black hat, red shirt and blue jeans at the time of the assault.

Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect or information on the incident is asked to contact the Quincy Police Department at 509-787-4718, or contact the tip line at 509-787-8477. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
