Dr. Hans Gronnemose Dinesen, 82, of Moses Lake, Washington, passed away Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at Samaritan Healthcare in Moses Lake.

Viewing will be held Friday, Oct. 18th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Carver Family Funeral Home, 1217 E. Wheeler Rd., Moses Lake. Funeral service and family memorial will be Saturday, Oct. 19th, 10 a.m. in Frontier Middle School Cafeteria, 517 W. Third Ave., Moses Lake, with viewing open to the public from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. Rev. Lars Clausen, nephew of the deceased, will officiate. Military Honors will be provided by the U.S. Air Force Funeral Honors Guard and the American Legion Post 209, whom will play "TAPS" to honor him as a Korean War Veteran.

Jessica Solaro, granddaughter, will prelude the service with "Amazing Grace," on violin. Scripture reading will be done by grandchildren, Nicole Neviaser, Maxwell Dinesen and Hunter Dinesen. The congregation will sing the hymn, "How Great Thou Art." The postlude will be done in sign language by Jessica Solaro to the song "I Can Only Imagine."

An Open Time of Sharing will be welcomed during the service as a time to remember and celebrate Hans's life. A Luncheon will immediately follow. All are invited to stay.

Pallbearers will be Aron Dinesen, son; Nathan Neviaser, Maxwell Dinesen, Hunter Dinesen, grandsons; Tom South; and Dale Good.

Burial is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 21st, 9:30 a.m., in Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Dinesen will be laid to rest, with Veterans honors, including a 21-Gun Salute and "TAPS", surrounded by family and friends.

Hans was born November 4, 1930 on his parents' Hojbogaard farmstead in Karrebak, Denmark. He completed his education and studied with a famous violinist in Copenhagen for two years. He then served in the Danish Army.

Hans immigrated to the United States in 1952 and served 4 years of active duty with the U.S. Air Force. He was titled an Honorable Officer, a Staff Sergeant and received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

He graduated from Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon with a Doctor of Optometry degree and was in private practice in Grafton, North Dakota for 6 ? years, where he was awarded the "North Dakota Optometrist of the Year."

He opened his first Watertown, South Dakota optometric office in 1968, and then opened four more offices in surrounding South Dakota cities, also practicing in Minnesota and North Dakota until 2004 when he moved to Washington. He enjoyed serving patients into his 82nd year.

Hans is preceded in death by his parents, Frede and Ruth (Dinesen) Gronnemose.

He is survived by his wife Ruth Farvardin and his step-daughter Ariana, Moses Lake, Washington; his previous wife Dorothy Dinesen, Russellville, Ohio and their three children, Wanda Neviaser (Tom South), Boise, Idaho; Sonja Solaro (husband Steve), Russellville, Ohio; Aron Dinesen (wife Susan), Lake Oswego, Oregon; his five grandchildren, Nathan Neviaser, Jessica Solaro, Nicole Neviaser, Maxwell Dinesen and Hunter Dinesen; three siblings, Tom Dinesen (Karen Hsu), Surrey, BC, Canada; Vibeke Clausen, Camarillo, California; and Poul Gronnemose (wife Bente), Langley, BC, Canada; numerous nieces, nephews, cherished patients and friends.

Hans was a Christian with an inspirational attitude who enjoyed people and socializing. He adored and took pride in his optometric profession and also had an entrepreneurial spirit and background, owning and investing in multiple business pursuits. His other interests and activities were reading, traveling, bowling, hunting, walking and telling good jokes. He always wore a smile and never gave up!
