Reader explains the Moses Lake Grant County Tea Party Coalition

| October 11, 2013 6:00 AM

Citizens may have received a phone call asking for a donation from Tea Party Express. Just for the record, the Moses Lake Grant County Tea Party Coalition (MLGCTPC) does NOT solicit donations or contributions. We pass the hat at meetings and our own members sometimes pay for things that we need.

We are NOT affiliated with the Tea Party Express which formed as a non-profit using that name. The name Tea Party is not copyrighted and any one can use it. There are some organizations on the National level who claim to be THE Tea Party when in fact we are a grass roots movement with Tea Party groups all over the country who answer to NO National organization and do not solicit donations by mail or phone.

The Tea Party is NOT a political party! We are a Watch Dog group. It is a loosely organized group of ordinary Americans who have come out and stood up against the growth of government and Obama Care. We do NOT endorse candidates although we try to influence the GOP to run Conservative candidates. Some of us individually support candidates of our choosing. After the primary, the MLGCTPC works diligently to elect Republicans who have won the primaries. We do not get involved with social issues.

We have rally's and sidewalk "sign" rally's when we feel we need to protest, and hold meetings once a month. We invite speakers, discuss current issues and legislation, have presentations on our Constitution and show videos at our meetings. Sheriff Tom Jones will be speaking and answering questions at our next meeting on Oct 15th at 6:30 pm. We meet at Papa's 1165 N. Stratford Rd. All our welcome to attend.

People can join at www.meetup.com/https-gctpc-wordpress-com-about or come to a meeting on the third Tuesday of each month at Papa's.

Ann Mix,
