Chiefs sweep Davis
YAKIMA - The Moses Lake Chiefs volleyball team was able to end a five-match losing streak after sweeping Davis High School 3-0 on Tuesday.
It was the Chiefs' first win since Sept. 17 when they swept the Eastmont Wildcats.
The win improves Moses Lake's record to 3-2 in the Columbia Basin Big 9 and 3-5 overall.
"Things are starting to click and the light bulbs are coming on," head coach Michael DeHoog said. "Things are just kind of starting to come back together."
Moses Lake is nearing the end of a seven-match road trip that has included trips to Spokane as well as Idaho.
"This travel is a little wearing," DeHoog said. "Luckily we're not traveling too far."
The Chiefs return home on Oct. 15 to face Eastmont for a second time.
Currently, Moses Lake sits in third place in the Big 9 behind Wenatchee and Eisenhower. The team finishes the year with four out of five matches at home and will look to take advantage of the favorable schedule to move up in the standings.
"We have to take care of our side of the net and we have to continue to play aggressively and not allow runs," DeHoog said. "I just ask the girls to get a little bit better every day and they're working on that."
Moses Lake travels to Sunnyside today for a 7 p.m. match. The Grizzlies are still looking for their first win of the year.
