Dutch Bros. to help raise funds for winter coats
The Moses Lake Dutch Bros. raised more than $1,500 during its May 3 fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
MOSES LAKE - Coffee drinkers can help Basin kids get ready for winter by visiting the Moses Lake Dutch Bros. Friday.
The drive-thru coffee stand is holding a fundraiser for Moses Lake Coats 4 Kids, according to a recent news release. A dollar from every drink sold from 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. that day will be donated to the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Columbia Basin.
The Boys and Girls Club will then use the funds to purchase coats and jackets for kids in need.
Owner Kristen Nelson said the fundraiser is a good way to make sure kids in the area keep warm this winter.
"It gets really cold out here, and there are a lot of kids in this town whose families can't afford a winter coat," she said. "We would never wanted a kid to go without."
Nelson owns the Moses Lake Dutch Bros. with her husband Darren. They opened the business in 2011.
They have held several fundraisers for organizations in the area including the Moses Lake Food Bank, the Boys and Girls Club and the Moses Lake School District.
Dutch Bros. has also raised money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Earlier this month, employees kicked off Breast Cancer Awareness month with a fundraiser for breast cancer research.
Dutch Bros. is located at 121 N. Stratford Rd. They are open from 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
