MOSES LAKE - A Moses Lake man is in custody for suspected arson after several hay bales were set ablaze at a ranch near Moses Lake Wednesday evening.

Sheriff's deputies and Grant County Fire District 5 firefighters responded to a report of an outside fire about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at a Angus ranch on the 11000 block of Road H Northeast, about 10 miles north of Moses Lake.

Deputies and firefighters arrived to find several bales of hay fully engulfed in flames, according to the sheriff's office. About $4,500 worth of hay was set ablaze in the fire.

Witnesses in the area told deputies they noticed a small white car leaving the scene just before the fire was started.

Based on witness information, deputies were able to tie a white 1998 Subaru Justy and Alexander Michael Clemons, 19, to the incident. Clemons was arrested for investigation of second-degree arson, according to the sheriff's office.

The Subaru was also seized as evidence pending a search warrant.

The sheriff's office and Grant County Fire Marshal's Office is still investigating the suspected arson and said more arrested could be possible.
