Royal loses twice
ROYAL CITY - It was a tough week last week for Royal High School in volleyball, with the Knights falling to Connell and Burbank, or the best the SCAC East has to offer.
The Eagles won on Tuesday on their court 25-11, 25-8 and 25-7. Burbank won at Royal, 25-7, 25-13 and 25-18.
Kayla Smith led the Knights against Connell with 4-4 serving, one kill, three digs and one block. Seila Jenks went 6-6 serving with one ace, and Taylor Freeman went 5-5 serving
In the contest with Burbank, Smith went 8-9 serving with four digs and one block. Becca Lee served 4-4 with one kill and four digs, and Lindsey Small served 8-8 with three kills, two digs and two blocks.
"Not a lot to say other than get back to basics and bounce back against our next opponents," coach Paul Olsufka said. "Lindsey Small is stepping up as a sophomore and doing a good job for us serving, and her play at the net has improved throughout the season."
