OTHELLO — An Othello woman was struck and killed by a car Tuesday night after getting out of her vehicle following a rear-end collision on state Route 17 near Othello.

About 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, Maria E. Farias, 49, driving south on state Route 17 in a 1996 Honda Accord, rear ended a vehicle stopped for another vehicle attempting to make a left turn. Following the collision, Farias reportedly exited her vehicle to contact the other driver when she was struck by another vehicle heading south on the highway, according to information released by the State Patrol Wednesday.

Farias was pronounced dead at the scene. For more information, read Thursday’s edition of the Columbia Basin Herald.
