Allied Arts season kicks off on Oct. 15
MOSES LAKE - The Columbia Basin Allied Arts is bringing the music of Johnny Cash to Moses Lake.
The Allied Arts season opens with a 7 p.m. Oct. 15 showing of "Ring of Fire- The Music of Johnny Cash" at Big Bend Community College's Wallenstien Theater.
The musical tells the story of Cash's life and music career, Allied Arts Executive Director Pat Daugherty said.
"There's about 14 performers and they do all of Johnny Cash's popular songs," she said.
The show features more than 35 songs, including "Folsom Prison Blues," "I Walk the Line" and of course, "Ring of Fire."
Daugherty said "Ring of Fire" was originally a Broadway musical.
The Broadway version was originally produced by William Meade, James B. Freydberg and CTM Productions. The current show was conceived by William Meade and created by Richard Maltby Jr.
"It was very successful on Broadway, so they decided to take the show on a national tour," she said.
She wanted the show to be included in the Allied Arts season this year because there are a lot of Johnny Cash fans in the area.
"I've sold a lot of tickets already; this is definitely Cash country," she said.
Tickets are either $30, $25 or $15 depending on where in the theater the seats are located, Daugherty said.

Tickets are also available at The Bookery in Ephrata, ArtGarden Pottery in Moses Lake and the Big Bend Community College Bookstore.
