Reader has a vision for the community

| November 30, 2013 5:00 AM

I have a vision for our community that is centered on two themes: charity and Christmas Love. I am copying an idea that I had the pleasure of watching last year in Kansas City. For sixty years, musicians from all over Kansas City have come together to raise food and money for their local food bank. The concert includes sacred and secular choral works, brass ensembles and hand bell choirs. It brings the community together for not only an opportunity to experience and hear great music but to open hearts to acts of giving and caring.

I believe the Moses Lake community has the breadth of talent and spirit to generate such a concert; one full of hope, joy and sharing. It is an opportunity to engage in what will be a very exciting and rewarding musical endeavor all the while sharing the charitable love that came to us on Christmas.

"A SEASON FOR GIVING" Christmas concert will be held December 8th 3p.m. at the Moses Lake Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church located on 200 N Dale Rd.

Rehearsals will be on Thursdays, with the exception of Thanksgiving beginning October 3rd, 7-8 or 8:30 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church next to the McGosh Park tennis courts located on 1020 South A IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH Street.

The positive response has been amazing and generous; everything from the local churches opening their buildings for rehearsal and performances, the lending of music, accompanying talents, graphic art design and encouragement from local musicians.

Please spread the word, this is "For Good"! The local food bank is thrilled and grateful!

I would greatly appreciate a head count as soon as possible as I will be ordering music and folders soon.
