Wahluke recognizes achievement

MATTAWA - Wahluke Junior High School had an awards assembly last Friday that lauded students for success in statewide academic testing.

"We take every opportunity to recognize excellence in our students," Dean of Students Sean Langdon said. "Many excited parents joined in to celebrate the accomplishments of their children."

Every year, students take the Measurement of Student Progress assessment (MSP). Passing all sections of the MSP is a significant accomplishment.

Top students from each grade were presented certificates for being the top performers on the Measurement of Annual Progress (MAP) assessment. These students were Ethan Hansen, Esperanza Guitierrez, Jesseca Benitez, Ezeqiuel Rodriguez, Meggie Arlt, and John Mullen.

A number of students take the Washington English Language Proficiency Exam (WELPA) every year. Students who pass this test have reached near native language proficiency in English.

These students include Ailed Guzman, Anayeli Barajas Mendoza, Andy Martinez, Mariela Bermudes, Elena Perez , Jose Barbosa Servin, Jose Celaya, Iatziry Castillo, Brisa Mendoza, Martin Adame, Max Garcia Lomas, Clarissa Guerrero, Adrianna Jimenez, Elizabeth Padilla, Marina Huato, Esmeralda Lagunas, Daniel Martinez, Alex Jose Lozano, Christopher Ibarra-Lara, Elizabeth Valdovinos, Moises Gatica, Jessica Maldonado Flores, Luis Aguilar, Alexis Cabrera, Delfino Contreras and Kevin Esquivel.
