Evelyn M. Conner

Evelyn M. Conner, 88, a Moses Lake resident for 62 years, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 19, 2013. She was born Feb. 23, 1925, in Iola, Kansas to Herbert and Susan (Shapel) Funston.

On Jan. 12, 1941, she married Alfred Conner in Iola. They lived in Kansas until 1951 when they moved with their three children to Moses Lake. Alfred preceded her in death in 2008.

Evelyn spent many enjoyable years working and bowling at the Lake Bowl in Moses Lake. She was secretary of the Women's Bowling Association as well as for many leagues and tournaments. She held a special place in her heart for the Russell family and their employees along with all the Moses Lake bowlers.

Evelyn loved spending time with her family especially during the holidays. Her homemade noodles were always a big hit and none were ever left. She enjoyed working with canvas and making special crafts for loved ones. In her later years, she became a huge Mariner fan and attended her first game this summer against the Boston Red Sox. She thoroughly enjoyed watching several special TV programs with her family.

She is survived by her three children: Jerry of Moses Lake, Max (Denise) of Richland and Donnis Lord Alberts (Phil) of Moses Lake. Her surviving siblings are Robert (Helen) Funston of Wenatchee, Raymond (Jean) Funston of Tonasket and Donald (Maureen) Funston of Montrose, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Marion and Merle and her sister Wilma.

She is survived by grandchildren: Deborah Conner, Jeremy (Tammy) Conner, Joshua Conner, Jason Conner, Stacey Lehman-Garcia (Junior), Loren "Dean" Lord, Nicole "Nikki" Lord; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A visitation time for family and friends will be held Monday, Nov. 25 from 10 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. with funeral services at 2:00 p.m. at Kayser's Chapel of Memories, 831 South Pioneer Way, Moses Lake. Burial follows at Pioneer Memorial Gardens.
