EPHRATA, Wash. – Grant PUD is conducting a wireless broadband pilot program in a portion of the Quincy Valley. The year-long pilot program began this past summer with the installation of two wireless broadband antennas two miles apart on Road 5 NW - one near the Colockum Ridge Golf Course and the other on Road P NW. The antennas are served by Grant PUD’s fiber-optic system.

To connect to the wireless pilot, which promises a continuous five megabits-per-second service, customers in the pilot area can call one of the Internet service providers participating in the program. The providers are: Saddle Mountain Wireless, Spectrum Online Services, Accima, Aspeedynet, Basin Networking and One Click Network. For the duration of the pilot program, Grant PUD will not be charging providers for equipment to connect to its wireless network.

Data from the pilot program will help Grant PUD determine how to move forward to accomplish its goal of providing a sustainable, high-speed network for the residents of Grant County. To learn more, visit www.grantpud.org, e-mail grantfiber@grantpud.org or call (509) 754-6632.
