FEDERAL WAY - Moses Lake girls swim and dive is sending a representative to the state swim meet this weekend at the King County Aquatics Center in Federal Way.

Sophomore diver Heather Carbon was able to advance after scoring 305.45 in the one meter dive at the district swim and dive meet at the Central Washington University Aquatics Center Nov. 1 and 2.

This is the second year in a row Carbon has advanced to state for diving. Last year she was unable to advance past the preliminary round so her goal this year is to advance to finals on the second day.

Head coach Tony St. Onge explained that Carbon has added more advanced dives to her arsenal this year.

"Heather has worked hard all season and has challenged herself to increase her degree of difficulty on her dives," he said.

Carbon is ranked 13/14 headed into the meet, which will feature the top swimmers and divers in Washington.

St. Onge believes Carbon has a good shot to reach her goal of advancing past the prelims due to her work ethic in practice.

Prelims are scheduled to begin Friday at 10 a.m.
