This hunt is another great chance for mentors to take less experienced hunters into the field. Inexperienced hunters include youth, but also older hunters who are also beginners. They could be 25, 37, 52 or older, but haven't spent much time in the field. Read on.

The next turkey season begins Nov. 20 and continues through Dec. 15. This season will take place in Game Management Units 105 through 154 and 162 through 186. The limit is one turkey of either sex.

Hunting hours for turkeys: one-half hour before sunrise to sunset. It is illegal to hunt turkeys with anything other than a shotgun (modern or muzzleloader), bow and arrow, or falconry.

Turkey hunters are required to report their hunting activity for each tag purchased and for their special permit if drawn for one. It is unlawful to use dogs, electronic calls, or electronic decoys to hunt turkey. Baiting game birds is illegal.

Hunters must use number 4 shot or smaller, e.g., number 6 shot is legal, to hunt turkey.

Razor clam dig to start today on ocean beaches

We include the clam digging schedule because we know of several families who enjoy this sport. Read on.

State fishery managers have approved the second of two evening razor-clam digs this month, this one running from Friday, Nov. 15, through Wednesday, Nov. 20, at various ocean beaches.

Fish and Wildlife approved the dig after marine toxin tests showed the clams on those beaches are safe to eat.

Diggers are reminded that digging is not allowed at any beach before noon, noting the best digging typically occurs one to two hours before low tide.

Fish and Wildlife has scheduled the upcoming dig on the following dates, beaches and low tides: Nov. 15, Friday, 5:01 p.m.; -0.3 feet; Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Mocrocks, Copalis; Nov. 16, Saturday, 5:42 p.m.; -0.6 feet; Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Mocrocks, Copalis.

Nov. 17, Sunday, 6:20 p.m.; -0.7 feet; Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Mocrocks; Nov. 18, Monday, 6:57 p.m.; -0.6 feet; Twin Harbors; Nov. 19, Tuesday, 7:33 p.m.; -0.4 feet; Twin Harbors; Nov. 20, Wednesday, 8:09 p.m.; -0.2 feet; Twin Harbors.
