Reader wants tax help for all

| November 15, 2013 5:00 AM

I want the tax reduction. My employees want the $10,000 bonus.

I read with considerable interest, the governor's call for a special session, to keep Boeings 777X in Washington. The objective $8.7 billion tax reduction that would stimulate $l7 billion increase in economic activity. The agreement also provided $10,000 signing bonuses and other unspecified benefits for union workers. Wow! With those kinds of outcomes it begs the question; why doesn't the governor and Legislature bestow the same benefits to the rest of Washington businesses and employees? We could all be drinking the free Bubbleup and eating the Rainbow Stew! Ah but don't miss the $10 billion increase in gas taxes proposed for the rest of us.

I personally want Boeing to have an increasing business presence in the state, but for the right reasons. Instead of special treatment, (crony capitalism) why not a competitive tax and regulatory environment for all businesses in Washington? Imagine what an economic stimulus that would be!
