Girls bowling wins second in a row

YAKIMA - Moses Lake girls bowling won its second match in a row beating East Valley (Yakima) Wednesday.
The Chiefs dominated the match, winning both regular and Baker games with a final score of 1,884-1654.
Moses Lake started slowly in the first game only scoring 750 pins, but still bested East Valley's total of 707. Sophomore Kim Mulder led the way for the Chiefs with a 173.
Head coach Billy Brice felt the lanes were tricky to begin the match and his team struggled to pick up spares.
"Towards the middle they were able to string some spares together and keep their cool," he said.
Moses Lake once again started slowly in the first few frames of the second game, but Brice's team adjusted quickly and bowled strong tallying 811 pins to East Valley's 704.
"The lanes started to open up and the girls caught fire," he said.
Mulder once again led the way bowling 204. Ashleigh Hash and Mikayla Moreno scored a 162 and 166, respectively.
"This was an impressive game because they had a run of spares," Brice said.
The Chiefs were able to string 12 spares in a row to come back from trailing by 50 pins early in the game to lead by 100 pins.
"The scores weren't that high, but as a team they bowled pretty good," Brice said.
Moses Lake won the first Baker game 175-109 to take the match and closed out East Valley winning the second Baker game 148-134.
"All in all another very solid performance," Brice said.
The team returns to the lanes Nov. 21 to face Selah. The match is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m. at Lake Bowl in Moses Lake.
