YAKIMA - Warden's season came to an end Saturday after losing to Goldendale in three games (15-25, 14-25, 17-25).

The loss eliminated the Cougars from the district tournament.

"Our team competed against Goldendale," head coach Dennis Treat said. "We were tied at 17 in set three before Goldendale was able to pull away."

Treat had to adjust to coaching a very young team after eight players were lost to graduation and only one player with significant varsity experience returned to the team.

"The team steadily improved as the season progressed," he said. "Making the playoffs was a positive accomplishment this year and the players on the team are great kids to coach. It was a good season."

Warden struggled to return Goldendale's serves, giving up 10 aces in the match. Treat also stated that unforced errors contributed to the loss.

Sophomore setter Laurissa Kisler recorded 18 assists with five digs and was 5/5 serving. Junior outside hitter Leilani Pruneda led Warden with six kills. Junior middle hitter Selena Landeros filled the stat sheet with three digs, four kills, four blocks and was 12/12 serving.

Sophomore outside hitter Shania Kisler added 11 digs and four kills.

Connell won the district championship after beating Naches Valley in five games. Connell, Naches Valley and Zillah advanced to the state tournament.
