WENATCHEE - Big Bend volleyball will need some help to make the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges Tournament.

The team lost to Wenatchee Valley in five games (20-25, 20-25, 25-20, 25-20, 13-15) Friday and currently sits in fifth place in the NWAACC East region with a record of 5-9 and 11-23 overall.

For the Vikings to make the playoffs, Yakima Valley will have to beat Columbia Basin today. Big Bend owns the tiebreaker over Columbia Basin after beating the Hawks twice during the regular season.

Big Bend's offense struggled against Wenatchee Valley with a dismal hitting percentage of .006. The Vikings and Knights each tallied 42 kills, but Big Bend totaled more errors and had less attempts.

Outside hitters sophomore Katie Reeder and freshman Shania Bateman led Big Bend with 11 kills each. Freshman middle blocker Whitney Southam tallied seven kills.

Sophomore setter McKall Miller recorded a double-double with 29 assists and 14 digs. Freshman middle blocker Payton Clark led the team with 25 digs.

The NWAACC Tournament is scheduled to begin Nov. 21.
