MOSES LAKE - Residents can help mark the start of the holiday season this weekend during the Holiday Street Tree Lighting ceremony in downtown Moses Lake.

The Moses Lake Business Association is hosting the annual event in Sinkiuse Square from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday.

MLBA Executive Director Jasmyne DeBeaumont said the tree lighting ceremony is usually held after downtown Moses Lake gets decorated for the holidays. Dozens of wreaths and banners were put up in LakeTown Landing last week, she said.

Lights were also strung on trees along Third Avenue.

Many families make the tree lighting event a tradition because they can actually help light a tree, she said.

There will also be entertainment during the event, weather permitting, DeBeaumont said.

Residents can also learn about some of the MLBA's upcoming events, like the annual Ag Parade and their "Photos with Santa" event, she said.
