Cougars fall to Rangers

NACHES VALLEY - Warden lost its first game of the District 5 1A Volleyball Tournament against Naches Valley in three games (11-25, 17-25, 9-25).

The Cougars were overmatched, but head coach Dennis Treat was encouraged by his team's resolve.

"I was very proud of my girls as they played hard in a difficult situation and did not ever give up," he said. "We need to keep working on being consistent and work on reducing the number of unforced errors that we make during the course of a match."

Warden now moves to the loser's side of the bracket to face Goldendale at Highland Middle School Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

Treat felt his team played well but the lack of a dominant hitter prevented the Cougars from threatening Naches Valley.

"We made a good run at them in the beginning of sets 2 and 3 by serving short and attacking their ride side," Treat said, "but we did not have enough against a good team like Naches.

Sophomore setter Laurissa Kisler totalled nine assists and 11 digs, while sophomore outside hitter Shania Kisler recorded four kills, three aces and 13 digs.

Senior setter Emily Pruneda and sophomore outside hitter Isabel Gonzalez added nine and eight digs, respectively.
