Longtime resident of Moses Lake, Jan C. Jasper, 57, passed away on October 25, 2013. He passed away far too soon, but peacefully in his sleep from a blood clot entering his heart. A celebration of Jan's life will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Kayser's Chapel of Memories. Please sign the online guestbook or leave a note at www.kayserschapel.com.

Jan was born in Jackson, Minnesota to James and Eveline Jasper on October 2, 1956. He graduated from Jackson High School in 1975 and joined the army shortly thereafter. One of his most interesting experiences was when General Schwarzkopf requested that Jan be his private driver, even though Jan had not applied for the position. After he fulfilled his duties as driver, the General set Jan up with his dream to be a part of the E.O.D. (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) team. That brought him to Fort Lewis, where he was sent on an assignment to Takata in Moses Lake. Jan loved the Moses Lake area and decided to make it his home after being honorably discharged from the Army.

Jan married Kim Bailey in April of 1994. They had one daughter, Bailey Kate. He is survived by his wife Kim, daughters Bailey Kate and Chessa Rye (Phil) Tachiki, grandsons Caleb and Andrew, mother Eveline Jasper, siblings, Tim (Ann), Leila (Clyde) Hendricks, Jeff (Carole), Curt (Debbie), Mitch, and several nieces and nephews. He was also survived by his mother-in-law, Barbara Bailey and sister-in-law Chris (Mick) Hansen. Jan was preceded in death by his father, James Jasper, brother-in-law, Biff Bailey, and his beloved hunting dog, Katie.

He will be remembered by many from his years in construction. He worked for several local and out of area construction companies before starting his own business, Cougar Construction Company. He has recently been working in the oil fields in North Dakota and Montana.

Jan enjoyed fishing and duck hunting. He loved spending time with his family. He always said his wife and his girls were his best friends. He will be forever remembered for his happy attitude and his infectious laugh.
