Marlene L. Clark

Marlene L. Clark, "Lady Grifyn",69, a 7 year Ephrata resident and former longtime Federal Way resident, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2013.

She was born on March 19, 1944 at Dallas, Oregon to the late William Frank and Elnor Maxine (Morrison) Tilton. She was raised in the area of Gladstone and Oregon City, Oregon, with her step-father, Albert Paul Hopp Jr. and her siblings. She attended West Lynn High School at West Lynn, Oregon, where she was a dancer and cheerleader. They had their own version of American Bandstand during every lunch break.

She met and was married to William "Bruce" Edwards in September of 1961 at Portland, Oregon. They made their home together in Portland until moving to Federal Way, Washington in 1969. During this time, Marlene furthered her education at Highline Community College, where she focused her studies on writing and history. She later, went to work at Pacific Medical Center on Beacon Hill before working at Providence Medical Center in Seattle. Her job evolved into a position as Data Base Manager for the Hope Heart Institute.

Marlene had been a longtime member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Federal Way. She had worked as Office Secretary, Sunday School Teacher, taught Bible Study Classes, was a Vacation Bible School Teacher and was the first woman in their congregation to be invited to the pulpit to offer scripture readings.

She met Kyle J. Clark and they were married on July 11, 1998 at Naples, Florida. They made their home together in Naples until moving up to Federal Way in 2001. Marlene found a position as a New Accounts Manager for the SanMar Company, (a commercial screen printing and embroidering products supply company), and was still working in that capacity.

They continued to make their home in Federal Way until moving to Ephrata in 2007.

She loved her grandchildren and extended extra soft touches for her special needs grandson, Aaron. She enjoyed trips to Victoria, British Columbia, photography, the latest technologies and challenging her brain. She became an extremely accomplished gamer and found it formed her online confidence as she became widely known as "Lady Grifyn".

She is survived by her husband, Kyle J. Clark, gamer name, "Baron Silver" Ephrata; children, Lynda and her husband, Robert Bruce, Wilbur, WA, Bryan Edwards, Winslow, AZ and Chris Edwards, Tacoma, WA; mother, Dorothy Tilton of Oregon; brothers, Tim Tilton Jr of Nevada, Terry Tilton of California and Bill Tilton Jr. of Oregon; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia & Art Gregory, Newburg, OR; sister, Debbie of Washington; brother and his wife, Ron & Terri Hopp, Oregon City, OR; 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, step-father, and brother, Tom Tilton.
