American Legion to celebrate Auxiliary and Marine Corps

EPHRATA - American Legion Post 28 in Ephrata is celebrating the 238th birthday of the Marine Corps and the 93rd birthday of the American Legion Auxiliary on Nov. 10.

The post holds a joint celebration to commemorate both organizations' birthdays.

The social hour will begin at 5 p.m. with a brief ceremony at 5:45 p.m. followed by a prime rib dinner served at 6 p.m. The price of the dinner is $16.

After dinner, the Marine Corps birthday ceremony will begin which will include a message from the commandant of the Marine Corps and the reading of General John A. Lejeune's 1921 letter establishing the annual birthday celebration.

The American Legion Auxiliary's birthday ceremony will follow and a combined cake cutting ceremony will close the festivities.

The post welcomes all members, Auxiliary and their guests regardless of branch of service.

The American Legion would specifically like to recognize any Naval personnel who served as FMF Corpsmen.
