Royal volleyball better second time around

ROYAL CITY - The Royal Knights fell to tough Burbank in three games last week, but coach Paul Olsufka saw reason to be hopeful.

"The scores were better the second time around (compared to the first Burbank contest) but not good enough to get a win for the Lady Knights," he said.

Burbank won 14-25, 15-25, 18-25.

"We had an opportunity in the first game with the lead but could not side-out to get the momentum back," Olsufka said.

The Knights came up short at the net, but the floor game was solid. Lindsey Small led the way with 11-12 serving and three digs. Seila Jenks went 11-11 serving with four assists.

Kayla Smith had 6-6 serving with one kill and four digs. Allie Janett went 9-9 serving with one kill. Taylor Freeman had 4-4 serving with one kill, and Gracelynn Miller had four digs.

"We served very well for the three games but just not enough times to help put points on our side of the scoreboard," Olsufka said.

Royal will host Warden tonight and travel to Kiona-Benton on Saturday.

"We hope to finish strong, with two matches remaining in our season, and set the tone for next year," Olsufka said.
