Labor and Industries hosts free workshop Tuesday

MOSES LAKE - The state Department of Labor and Industries is offering a free workshop on the basics of workers' compensation and workplace safety requirements, among other topics, in Moses Lake Tuesday.

The agency is offering its "Introduction to L and I" course at the w and I Moses Lake office from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday.

The workshop provides employers with information on worker's compensation, wage and hour rules, safety requirements and contractor registration rules.

The workshop will also cover quarterly reporting requirements, claims and management strategies, safety and risk management consultation opportunities and provide an overview of L and I services.

Payroll, overtime and meal and break requirements will also be discussed during the course.

The workshop is a benefit to employers who don't yet have a full understanding of employer rights and responsibilities relative to L and I, according to the agency's website.
