EPHRATA - A Moses Lake man was arrested earlier this week after allegedly possessing a flare gun when he was stopped by police in connection to another arrest warrant.

The Grant County Prosecutor's Office recently charged Jonathan L. Zyph, 26, with second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.

According to the police report, officers observed Zyph riding his bicycle north on Alder Street near Broadway Avenue.

Police were advised that Zyph had a warrant for misdemeanor failure to comply concerning a suspended license.

Zyph was reportedly stopped by police near the 700 block of Broadway Avenue.

Police initially stopped Zyph because he was allegedly riding his bicycle at night without reflecting lights, according to court documents.

Officers advised Zyph there was a warrant for his arrest and he allegedly became upset because he had to work in the morning.

According to the police report, Zyph was detained by police. Officers reportedly found capped and empty syringes during their investigation.

Zyph pled guilty to methamphetamine possession in January.

Police also found a flare gun and reportedly removed a live 12-gauge round from the gun.

Zyph allegedly stated he had found the flare gun laying on top of a dumpster while he was riding his bicycle.

Zyph was booked into Grant County Jail for his misdemeanor warrant and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.
