Amy Wickenhagen experienced her first walleye trip recently. She fished the south end of Moses Lake and came away with an impressive string of walleye. Her big fish measured 20 inches. The fish were spread out over the south end and not in one particular spot or area. The strategy was to fish drop offs when the fish finder showed water at six feet dropping off to 12 feet. The deadline is near, don't dawdle, dally or otherwise delay in deciding which hunting permits you desire to submit. Read on.
The special hunt permit applications are available for deer, elk, mountain goat, bighorn sheep, moose and wild turkey. The application deadline is next Wednesday, May 22.
Hunters who have not obtained a copy of the 2013 Hunting Rules and Regulations pamphlet should not delay.
Kiss a goose; banders wanted for June dates

Hello Goose Banders, For those of you who haven't meet me, I'm the new waterfowl specialist. I'm seeking volunteers for the upcoming Canada goose banding occurring in June. Unfortunately, I lack email addresses for many of the former volunteers and ask for your help in passing this information on to interested parties.
Below is the eastern Washington Canada goose banding schedule: Monday, June 10, Spokane; Tuesday, June 11, Sprague Lake; Thursday, June 13, Tri-cities; Friday, June 14, Yakima; Monday, June 17, Moses Lake/Coulee Corridor; Tuesday, June 18, Wenatchee.
I will provide additional information on meeting locations and times in follow-up notices. We are looking for volunteers for all dates. There is no specific gear or skill required, just a willingness to get dirty! All volunteers must register with WDFW and I can provide the paperwork.
We will also need motor boats, kayaks, and canoes for most of the locations. Let me know if you can bring your watercraft. Please keep in mind that all boat crews must wear PFDs to participate in the operation.
I would like to get a general count on how many volunteers to expect at each of the bandings, so please respond if you can make it and how many people you are bringing. Meeting times are typically quite early for Spokane and Wenatchee (5a.m.) because we work on golf courses. The other locations will start at 7 or 8 a.m. The operations are typically complete by noon or early afternoon.
