OTHELLO - Two men were arrested in the recent drive-by shooting in Othello that injured a 4-year-old boy.

Deputies arrested two Othello men at 5 p.m. Monday during a search of a residence on 2173 W. April St. in Othello, according to Adams County Sheriff Doug Barger on Tuesday.

Felipe Michael Garza, 19, and Cesar Chavez-Serna, 19, both of Othello, were arrested on suspicion of five counts of first-degree drive-by shooting and booked into the Adams County Jail in Ritzville.

During a search of the April Street home, deputies found Garza inside and he was taken into custody, according to the sheriff's office. Garza was living in the home. While still at the residence, Chavez-Serna, who lived on the 300 block of Elm Street in Othello, walked up to deputies and was also taken into custody.

The suspect's vehicle, a brown Nissan passenger car, allegedly used in the shooting, was seized by deputies and sent to the state Crime Lab to process as evidence, according to the sheriff's office.

The two suspects allegedly shot at a family riding in a Cadillac on the 600 block of Wagon Road Friday night.

Several rounds were reportedly fired at the Cadillac, which left the scene and continued to their residence about five blocks down the road.

As the driver of the Cadillac pulled into the driveway, the suspects allegedly began shooting again. A bullet fragment struck a 4-year-old boy in the head. The boy was treated and released Friday from the Othello Community Hospital.

According to the sheriff's office, the victims did not know the suspects.

The suspects are also believed to be affiliated with gangs.

Both suspects appeared in Adams County Superior Court on Tuesday, May 14.
