Jarrel B. Anderson

Jarrel B. Anderson, 64, passed away on May 1, 2013 at his home after a year-long battle with cancer. He was born in Ft. Worth, Texas on December 1, 1948 to J.B. and Billie Anderson.

After graduating from Quincy High School in 1967, Jarrel attended Automation Institute Technology of America in Seattle. He served in the U.S. Navy, Naval Reserve, and attended Spokane Community College. Jarrel worked as a Deputy Sheriff for Grant County from February 1976 until he retired in February 1996. During this time he also volunteered as an EMT with the Ephrata Ambulance Service. He also worked for QCL, Samaritan Ambulance and Grant Transit Authority.

For several years Jarrel served on the Grant County Disability Board and Ephrata Civil Service Commission.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 28 and Ephrata Masonic Lodge #665.

Jarrel loved fishing, RVing, geochaching, metal detecting, playing games, having coffee with "the guys" at Wanda's, and spending time with his friends and family. He was especially happy to have had the opportunity to travel to Oklahoma to visit family and spend time in the south with his sister and brother-in-law for a couple of winters.

Jarrel is survived by his wife Pattie of Ephrata; son Jason (Katie) Anderson of Avondale, Arizona; daughter Kylie (Samuel) Dart; granddaughter Pyper Dart all of Moses Lake; mother Billie of Ephrata, sister Linda (Ron) Burns of Ephrata; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Carlene and Mike O'Konek of Moses Lake and several nieces and nephews.

Jarrel was preceded in death by his father J.B., and brother, Alan Paul.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Community Church of Ephrata, 54 K St. S.E.
