BENTON CITY - Orlando Alba recorded his 13th and 14th goals of the season in a 2-0 win in the last regular game of the year on the road at Kiona-Benton High School Tuesday.

It didn't take long for the Cougars to get on the board as Alba (Oswaldo Ramirez) found the back of the Bears box six minutes into the contest to put Warden up 1-0.

"Orlando received a nice pass between defenders from Oswaldo and out ran the Ki-Be defense," coach Ed Aguilar said. "He got off a low shot that got past the keeper who came out to block it to give us an early lead."

Alba made it 2-0 off an with assist by Fernando Landeros in the 29th minute of play.

The shutout win was the Cougars 9th of the season. Warden gave up only seven goals in 16 games this year.

The victory over Ki-Be improved the Cougars to 12-4 and landed the team in a two-way tie for second place in the 1A SCAC East standings.

"This season was a total team effort because everyone worked really hard to make the us one of the best in our division," Aguilar said. "We will play either Connell or Mabton Saturday morning at 11 in Warden in the first round of the district playoffs."
