MOSES LAKE - Basin golfers still have a chance to register for the Moses Lake Chamber of Commerce's golf tournament.

The 2013 Golf Scramble will take place May 10 at The Links at Moses Pointe, located at 4524 Westshore Dr. NE.

There will be a shot-gun start at 11 a.m., and golfers will play all 18 holes.

Chamber Executive Director Debbie Doran-Martinez said the tournament is open to golfers of all skill levels.

"It's not as highly competitive as some tournaments can be," she said. "We just go out there and have a great time."

Prizes will be given to the men's team and the co-ed team with the best gross score as well as the two teams with the best net score. The net score factors in handicaps.

Golfers also have a chance to win a car from Bud Clary if they make the specified hole-in-one shot. There are two par-three holes on the course which also have prizes attached to them, she said.

There will also be a putting contest after golfers finish the 18-hole course.

Whoever makes the longest putt will then have a chance to try and make a 50-foot putt.

If they succeed, they win $5,000, she said.

The Genie Ball Drop will also take place during the tournament. Numbered golf balls will be dropped off a Genie lift and whichever lands closest to the hole is the winning ball.

"There's a lot of chances to win something," Doran-Martinez said.

She said funds from the golf tournament allow the chamber to operate the visitor's information center.

"It's not funded by tourism dollars, so we have to generate that money to operate it," she said.

The tournament costs $400 for a team of four or $100 for an individual.

Both individual and team tickets include a cart, lunch and two drink tickets.

Businesses can also sponsor tees during the tournament, she said.

For more information on sponsoring a tee, or to register, call the chamber office at 509-765-7888.
