Crescent bar women's golf under way

CRESCENT BAR - The Crescent Bar women's golf season is underway, and after two weeks, the hot clubs seem to be in Cathy Jones's hands.

Jones's exploits included a hole-in-one on hole No. 14 in the second week of competition.

Over the two weeks, Jones appeared in the winner's circle seven times. Another player who has shone often is Roe Olsen.

First week results were:

First division gross, Jones, 96. First division net, Jones, 72. Second division gross, Olsen 111. Second division net, Olsen 71,

Longest putt, hole No. 8, first division, Jones 2-6. Closest to the pin, No. 3, first division, Marian Lucas 21-9.5. Second division, Wilma DeLeeuw, 14-9.5.

Game of the day, which was not reported, went to the team of Mary Woolverton and Olsen. Woolverton and DeLeeuw were credited with chip-ins.

Second week results were:

First division gross, Jones, 88. Second division gross, DeLeeuw, 113. First division net, Jones, 64. Second division net, Deleeuw, 74.

The longest putt in Division I was turned in by Lucas at 4-3.5 In the second division, the long putt went to Betty Mansfield at 7-8.

Closest to the pin in Division II was Olsen was 1-4.5. Elke Longwill had a chip-in on hole No. 10, and Judy Barnes had one on hole No. 9.

The game of the day, called ONES (any hole with a one in the number is carded) was won by Jones and Lyn Murray.
