MOSES LAKE - An East Wenatchee man was injured Thursday when he allegedly turned his motor home into an oncoming semi-truck on state Route 17 south of Moses Lake.

According to the state patrol, Larry D. Bielman, 71, was heading south about 2 p.m. in a 1989 Itasca 25-foot motor home on state Route 17. He was waiting to turn east on state Route 170, about 11 miles south of Moses Lake.

When Bielman attempted to turn, he allegedly struck a 2000 Kenworth tractor with a trailer heading north on state Route 17. The vehicles collided in the middle of the intersection. The semi-truck was driven by David W. Kaysen, 57, of Othello, who wasn't hurt.

The motor home, totaled in the collision, blocked one lane of state Route 17. Debris and personal items from the vehicle were scattered throughout the intersection. Traffic was diverted to one lane while crews cleaned up the debris and the motor home was towed from the area. Bielman was transported for treatment to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

The state patrol determined Bielman will be cited for failing to yield.
