Action heats up on the links

YAKIMA - Moses Lake girls golf took to the links for Big 9 POD 5 competition at the Par 72 Apple Tree Golf Course in Yakima Tuesday and came away with a third place finish.

Wenatchee (407) placed first, Eastmont (435) was second, Davis (493), fourth and Eisenhower (513), fifth. Moses Lake finished with a team score of 446.

The Chiefs Mikayla Chavez carded a 98, which landed her in a two-way tie for third, Megan O'Neil shot a 109, Terrin Utter turned in a 118, Katrina Ulnick tallied 121, and Maddie Tudor finished with a 126.

Wenatchee's Carly Bozett was the low round medalist with an 88.

Moses Lake was back in the swing of things Wednesday, but the results were not available at press time. The Chiefs head to Sunnyside May 9 for POD 6 at Black Rock Creek.

CLE ELUM - A four-hour snow delay at the Suncadia Boys Invite in Cle Elum Tuesday didn't seem to bother Ephrata's Aaron Whalen as he shot a 4 under par 68, and was the low round medalist on the day.

The Tigers Byran Heer carded an 83, Zach Dwyer shot 90, Elliot Boyd was two strokes back with a 92, and Mason Buchert finished the round with a 98.

Ephrata placed seventh out of 23 teams with a score of 333. Interlake High School was first with 299, Othello placed 13th with 369, and Quincy (394) finished 16th.

The Huskies Trevor Salsbury shot 79, Tyler Amoruso carded 89, RJ Garza turned in a 97, Ethan Towle finished with a 104, and Cole Scott ended his round with a 107.

Jeremy Guthas and Kyle Fiegal had the best round for the Jacks with a 95,

Blake Van Diest and Gabe Hernandez shot 102, and Alexis Pio finished with 114.
