QUINCY – The Quincy Police Department is looking for partners to help finance the preparation of donated Humvees for use in the communnity.

The QPD received two military humvees from Joint Base Lewis-McCord. It is working on a project that will equip these hummers for use in our community.

The first hummer will be a public relations vehicle. The second will be a tactical response vehicle.

“We are looking for partners in our endeavor to strengthen our bond with the community as well as increase our services,” Police Chief Richard Ackerman said.

“In return for your donation, we will be happy to place your company’s name and logo on the exterior of the public relations vehicle,” Ackerman added.? ?

The public relations vehicle would be equipped with, among other informational items, a large TV in an area where children and young adults can watch videos and learn more about the city laws and what the police are doing to keep them safe.

“This hummer would be an excellent tool for all types of public outreach,” Ackerman said. “We strive to reach out to the community and stay in contact with the citizens we serve.”

Aakerman would like to have this hummer look like the department's patrol cruisers.?

The tactical response vehicle will be a support vehicle for the Grant County Tactical Response Team (TRT), outfitted with the same flat black paint and black wheels that a tactical vehicle would have.

“This would be a great opportunity to show our support for the men and women of TRT and provide support for their operations,” Ackerman said. ?

These projects will be a big financial undertaking for the police. They are seeking funding for supplies, including: paint, labor, electronic equipment, etc.
