Moses Lake sex offender arrested

EPHRATA - A Moses Lake man was booked recently into Grant County Jail for failing to register as a sex offender.

Orlando J. King, 32, was charged with failing to register as a sex offender (first offense) after allegedly not notifying law enforcement of his location.

King has a lengthy criminal history spanning from 1993 to 2012, including several felony convictions.

King's criminal history includes three assault convictions and a child rape conviction in Grant County.

King was also convicted of a domestic violence court order violation, no-contact order violation and criminal trespassing in Benton County as well as one burglary and two assault convictions in Franklin County.

According the court documents, King was released from the Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla and received three years of community custody as a Level 3 sex offender. On a scale of one to three, Level 3 offenders have the highest risk of re-offending, according to the sex offender classifications for Washington state.

King was reportedly a transient after being released from prison and spent time parked outside businesses living in a trailer.

Without a fixed address King was required to call law enforcement every three months and verify his whereabouts.

The Grant County Sheriff's Office was unable to contact King for almost one year before arresting him.

According to court documents, law enforcement found King recently applied for and received an updated driver's license with a Pasco address.
